POOR SERVANTS OF THE MOTHER OF GOD

June: Month of the Sacred Heart

“…May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith, that rooted and grounded in love, you may have the strength to comprehend with all the holy ones, what is the breadth and length, the height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses all knowledge, so that you may be filled with the utter fullness of God.”

 Ephesians 3:17-19

Always making intercession for us

Hebrews 7:25

“Love of the Sacred Heart means a real, practical love of Our Lord and a realisation of his love for us”.

Mother Magdalen

Pleading for us, always pleading like a mother or father, holding us, caressing us, reassuring us, being a voice for us, a voice which ‘rises like a fountain’ on our behalf night and day. No wonder Mother Magdalen’s last words on this earth were “Invoke the Sacred Heart”. It was her legacy to her children,   a legacy rooted in that earthiness which was her chief characteristic. Not for her a fleeting devotion based on sentiment alone, but a life-long response of love to the God who first loved us.

And so this month dedicated to the Sacred Heart, this month in which she died, reminds us to creep close to that great heart, opened for us on Calvary, so that we can find our rest there. Mother Magdalen reminds us: “Your heart was among the hearts for which he yearned, and which he was bent on drawing close to his own heart.”

Heart of Jesus. Full of kindness and love, have mercy on us!
