BUILDINGS AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN KENYA

On September 3rd, a new classroom extension was officially blessed and opened in the Frances Taylor Family Learning Centre Mwingi, Eastern Kenya.

The centre,  run by the Poor Servants of the Mother of God offers a variety of services to many groups.  It has officially recognised classes  for nursery  school children as well as Polytechnic courses for both young women and men.  Adult literacy and community development groups also use the facilities so it is truly a “Family Learning Centre”.  The extension was sponsored by Misean Cara, Ireland and the Sisters.  The photo shows Sr. Munanie, SMG Area Leader in East Africa animating the celebrations.

Sirende – new Convent nears completion

In Sirende,  Kitale, Westen Kenya the new convent nears completion and it is envisaged that it will be ready for the Extraordinary Mission Month of October.  Currently the Sisters live in rented accommodation  while engaged in pastoral  ministry in the parish.   Recently two hundred and thirty women from the parish were among those received into the Catholic Women’s Association.  This is an association of Catholic lay women mandated to empower catholic women spiritually, morally, socially and economically.  We hope we are building Church with living stones as well as with cement.
