Happy Feast of the Incarnation from the Superior General, Sr. Margaret Cashman

On this feast of the Incarnation, the expression of the love of God for us – “the great love wherewith He loved us”, I want to wish each of you every grace and blessing.

Mother asks us to “think well on what it means, “when the Sacred Heart began to beat and so we feel it is the feast of Jesus and Mary in one, -and that is the model of our lives – to serve Jesus and Mary – to imitate their life of prayer”.

Imagine “how Mary must have prayed after the Annunciation as she went about her duties, comforting others – helping St. Elizabeth – going in haste”. Her visit to Elizabeth wasn’t just a hasty one, she stayed with Elizabeth until the birth of John the Baptist.

Mother was always aware of the needs of the world.  Our world today is no different and we ask Mary to intercede for all people who are struggling in so many ways because of war, famine, homelessness, rising costs etc.  We think especially of Ukraine, Iran, Lebanon, Gaza and many other places where there is war and unrest has taken over.

Pope Leo highlighted the Annunciation as an invitation for individuals to trust God's plan, even when it is unexpected, echoing Mary's "Be it done unto me according to your word".  He described the Annunciation as the moment the divine Word became flesh through Mary's faith, calling for believers to bring joy and hope to a fractured world.

On this, our greatest feast, Mother Magdalen would wish us to celebrate! I hope all of you will have a joyful get-together.  You will have your ways of doing this, so just celebrate!

Sincerely in Christ,

Margaret C. SMG
