POOR SERVANTS OF THE MOTHER OF GOD

Sr. Enda Crowley RIP

Sr. Enda was born Ita Crowley in Dunmanway in 1931 as the third youngest of 15 children all of whom have predeceased her except her sister, Gertrude.

After her formal education in Dunmanway she became a civil servant and worked in Dublin for seven years prior to following her sister Margaret into religious life.

Following Religious Profession, she was missioned to Italy where she obtained her degree and taught in our schools in Florence and Rome. Very gifted in languages, she later worked as assistant editor of the English edition of Osservatore Romano. During these years she also engaged in pastoral activities in any “spare” time.

In 1999 she returned to England for health reasons and worked as chaplain in hospitals in London, Liverpool and Swindon.  These were interspersed with periods of illness. In 2014 she transferred to Taylorville convent Liverpool for “semi-retirement” and died on 30th December 2017.

Enda was a faithful SMG who loved the Congregation, her native land and Italy. She had many gifts which she generously shared.  Her relationship with God was real, precious and private. We pray that she is now enjoying the fullness of that intimate and loving relationship in Heaven.

L’eterno riposo doni a lei, O Signore
