Extract from a letter of 1887
I do so want this year to be one of progress for us all, for you know very well that progress in outward things – a grand church, for instance, would be nothing if we did not advance in spirit. The things I want for you in the future are: devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Devotedness to others, particularly to those in need. Mind that.
She wanted all our service to be done out of love, not duty.
